Why is Mike running for City Council?
I have a long history of effective service to
this community of which I am extremely proud. After
retiring from 25 years of service with the Tracy Police
Department, I feel I can still make a contribution to our
community. My wife, Marjorie, and I have grown
extensive roots
in Tracy and care deeply about our town. This election marks a
crossroads that will determine Tracy's future... I want to be
sure we choose the right direction!

Is Mike qualified to serve on the City Council?
I
grew up in the Tracy area, living and working in agriculture. I
understand what farming and ranching have meant and will mean to
our community. In my law enforcement career, I relied heavily on
problem solving and decision making skills, and developed an
ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people, even under very
difficult circumstances. My unique experience, background
and perspectives will benefit me in serving Tracy as a
member of the City Council.

What is Mike's position on current "hot issues" in
Tracy?
I
will do everything in my power to be as clear and straight
forward on issues as I can be.
-
I did
not support Measure "A". I do not think it is the answer to
Tracy's growth issues, but it is the law and must be
followed.
-
I am
"pro-growth" when it comes to both residential and economic
development, but growth must be managed. Developers are
partners with our community in growth. I believe the City
should always be honest, fair and firm in its dealings with
developers and others who seek to invest in Tracy. For Tracy
to grow effectively, we must create and maintain a
pro-business environment.
-
I do
not believe that City government is guilty of making
"backroom deals" or engaging in any other
inappropriate/illegal conduct. I challenge those candidates
for City office who continually make such accusations to
show proof.
-
I am
committed to ensuring that public
safety staffing and the City's ability to maintain parks,
streets and other infrastructure must keep pace with future
growth.

Why should I vote for Mike?
For
over two decades I have been committed to serving the people
of Tracy as a police officer. I want to continue that service, but now as one
of your Council members. I will be clear on where I stand
on issues, with my positions being based on principles, not
preferences. I value the opinions of others and believe in
achieving common ground, whenever possible, with those who
hold differing opinions.

- How can I help?
If you
agree with my vision on building a better Tracy, please
support me with your vote! You can also spread the word by
talking to friends, displaying “I LIKE MIKE” campaign signs
or inviting me to speak to your neighborhood, church or
service group. Campaign contributions to offset the cost of
signs and campaign literature are a huge help and
greatly appreciated.
